Biography
Marta Kržič began her musical education at the Vrhnika Music School and continued at the Ljubljana Secondary School of Music and Ballet, where she completed her piano studies with distinction in the class of Prof. Majda Martinc, as well as music theory in the class of Prof. Janez Osredkar.
She continued her piano studies at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, where she graduated with distinction in the class of Prof. Tanja Zrimšek and later completed her postgraduate studies under Prof. Aci Bertoncelj. She further refined her skills with professors Johannes Kropfitsch, Rita Kinki, Arbëreshë Valdma, and Jacob Lateiner.
With the quintet Adamsi, she received several awards at international competitions in Prague, Pula, Trieste, and Castelfidardo, and recorded a CD. As a pianist, she contributed to the creation of several recorded musical fairy tales by Janez Bitenc. As a soloist, she performed multiple times with the Vevče Paper Mill Wind Orchestra at the Slovenian Philharmonic and recorded a CD with them. She occasionally collaborates in various chamber ensembles and is a member of the Intertempora trio. She regularly performs with accordionist Dejan Mesc. In the piano duo Art-Emin, she collaborates with pianist Benjamin Govže. She maintains an active concert career in Slovenia and internationally.
As a Specialist Consultant at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, she teaches complementary piano (for the departments of music pedagogy, choral and orchestral conducting, composition, sacred music, organ, singing, and recorder). She was the Head of Complementary Piano Department from 2013 to 2017 and again from 2025/26 academic year onward.
She has been invited several times as a jury member to international complementary piano competitions in Serbia (Niš, Smederevo) and Australia (WPTA Australia International Piano Competition). Her students are recipients of numerous first prizes, laureate titles, and special awards for the best performance of a competition piece. At international complementary piano competitions, she received several awards in recognition of excellence in pedagogical achievement.
